I have spent the past several weeks between an unusually hot Paris (one day it was 29 degrees, which is certainly pas normale for April) and Burgundy, where my producer, Johanna Eliot, joined me for a birthday feast at two-star restaurant La Madeleine in Sens. The chef made us a tasting menu of literally everything coming out of the kitchen. It was a bit over the top - less would have been more, to be honest - but fun since I rarely treat myself like that.

In Paris, I spent my days walking hours and hours through the city and soaking up inspiration in the markets. How I love French markets! They have so much variety and colour, they instantly make me want to buy everything and race home to cook. It's true that to cook well, we have to shop well first. Luckily the markets at home will be in full swing, too, by the time I get home.
