Hello,
December, 2008

Hello out there!

I am sorry not to have written in November, but I was trying to pretend November didn't happen. It was a month that felt like banging my head against a brick wall, mostly because of house-moving nightmares.  Well, I have finally reached the light at the end of that tunnel:  a home!  Yay. And it is right next door to an excellent market.  I will do nothing but food shop and throw dinner parties all winter long!

One of the happy parts of November was a trip to Montréal. I hadn't been back, really, since my university days so it felt completely new.  What a beautiful and exciting city! It has an amazing energy -  strong and utterly unique - and to be quite honest, I left thinking, "Why aren't I living here?!"  I love the warmth of French Canadians (they are more like the Italians that way than like the French) and the food everywhere I went was fabulous beyond belief. I can't wait to go back.

My next trip will be to the east coast for Christmas with family.  Lots of orange zest to candy for plum pudding, and I may even take over turkey duty this year.  No pictures yet this month, but will pop some up as soon as I'm "home". I am itching to get there so I can throw my arms around my new niece.

Hope the holidays treat you well wherever you are!

All the best,

Laura
