Home-made Cookbooks

Long before I ever wrote a "real" cookbook, I used to make them. As a child, I was constantly running around behind grown-ups copying down their recipes. And I would spend hours typing up recipes that I'd find in magazines or collect from whomever so much as fed me a cookie.  There are four copies of The Calder Cookbook in circulation (I did that in high school). And one Christmas a few years ago, I did handmade mini coobooks for my friends, complete with drawings. My grandmothers and my mother all had their own cookbooks, handwritten and containing their staple repertoires.  These are the best cookbooks you'll ever find and they're the ones worth passing on.  So, that's my pick for this month:  personal recipe collections and handwritten cookbooks.  If you don't have your own, I hope this is inspiration to get at it!
