M0851 travel gear
MO851 is a Montreal-based design firm that embodies the glories of quality and function. I first discovered the brand when I was in Vancouver in a downpour. I tumbled into a shop and the shopgirl said, “I’ve owned my m0851 raincoat for 8 years and it still looks fantastic.” Sold! My own raincoat is now in year 3 of its life and, despite plenty of use and abuse, untarnished.
Two years later, when winter came along, I wanted one of those sleeping-bag-warm coats, but one that didn’t actually look like a sleeping bag, as so many do. Again, m0851 to the rescue: sleek leather with a hood encircled in fur. My only complaint is that it should have zipper AND snaps. (When you’re in a rush, you don’t have time to fuss with zippers!) Otherwise, the coat is great: c’est chic et chaud.
Most recently, I acquired m0851 travel bags for cosmetics. When you’re on the road, tacky cosmetics bags are really depressing because they’re things you face every morning; on the other hand, when they’re nice they’re most morale boosting! So, what I’ve got are these brown leather pouches, softly padded on the inside. Handsome, rather than pretty, but this trip may be a bit rugged, so they suit. (www.mo851.com)
